YouTube Introduces New Search Filters

Tech News a day ago 2220 Views

Google has reportedly introduced new versions of search filters on YouTube's web and mobile apps. A Shorts filter has been added under the Type category, allowing users to choose between Shorts videos or long-form videos. Previously, search results mixed Shorts and long videos, making it difficult to find longer videos.

The Sort By menu is now renamed Prioritise, which YouTube says better reflects how search results are organized. The View count option has been changed to Popularity, which ranks videos based on quantitative and qualitative data such as view count, watch time, and relevance to the search query. YouTube has removed the Upload Date – Last Hour and Sort by Rating options due to poor performance and user complaints. However, users can still use Upload Date filters like Today, This Week, This Month, and This Year to find the latest videos. The Filters menu has been simplified, showing options under Type such as Videos, Shorts, Channels, Playlists, and Movies. The Duration filter has also been updated with categories Under 3 minutes, 3 to 20 minutes, and over 20 minutes. Filters like Live, HD, and 4K remain unchanged. This update is being rolled out gradually on both YouTube's website and mobile apps, and some users will notice these changes soon. YouTube states that the main goal is to make the search experience more efficient and user-friendly.
