YouTube Subscription Price Increase
YouTube has adjusted subscription prices in the United States, with the changes taking effect from the next billing cycle. The company stated that the price of the individual YouTube Premium plan has increased from $13.99 to $15.99. Additionally, the family plan has risen by $4 to $26.99. The lower-priced plan known as YouTube Lite is now $8.99, offering ad-free viewing for many videos, but ads still appear in YouTube Music Premium and Shorts music content. The separately available YouTube Music Premium subscription has also increased by $1 to $11.99. This price increase is considered the first adjustment in the U.S. after three years. YouTube Premium was introduced in 2018 as a new version of the YouTube Red service that started in 2015.

This decision is seen as part of a general trend among streaming platforms. Spotify has also raised subscription prices this year, and services like Netflix and Disney+ have increased their fees. YouTube stated that this price adjustment will allow them to continue maintaining services such as ad-free viewing, background play, and the music library of over 300 million songs available on YouTube Music. Last year, combined subscribers for YouTube Music and Premium exceeded 125 million worldwide, marking significant growth compared to the previous year.
