Apple iOS 27 Beta Overview
At the WWDC 26 event held two days ago, Apple introduced their latest OS lineup for the 2026-2027 period. Regarding iPhones, the iOS 27 version was announced. As usual, it will be available in three main types.
- Developer Beta
- Public Beta
- Final Version
Here, the developer beta is released specifically for developers to test the new iOS and develop apps. However, keep in mind that this beta may contain significant issues.
- Rapid battery drain
- Freezing or getting stuck
- Some apps crashing
- Certain hardware problems (such as green line issues)
- Some features being disabled (e.g., Face ID not working)
Because of these reasons, even though the developer beta is the first version released, it is somewhat risky to install it on your daily-use iPhone. Additionally, the public beta generally resolves many of these problems. While some issues may still exist, they are relatively fewer. The developer beta is released right after WWDC, and the public beta arrives a few months later. Around September, when a new iPhone is launched, the official version is released.
Now let's look at how to install these beta versions. There are two main methods.
(1) Without a Beta Profile
Go to this link Developer.apple.com/account and sign in with your Apple account.

Then go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and enable beta updates.

The update will then appear. Proceed to install the update.
(2) Through a Beta Profile
Download a beta profile from this webpage.
Then install it and enable beta updates. Now the iOS 27 update will appear. Since this update exceeds 10GB, your iPhone should have around 20GB of free storage. Also, ensure your battery is charged to about 50% or more before installing.
Note - SL Geek has tested iOS 27 on iPhone 13, 15, 15 Pro, 16 Pro, 17, and 17 Pro models (as of 2026/06/11). We observed many issues in the currently released developer beta 1. Problems were noticed not only within the OS but also in third-party apps like Instagram. Additionally, except for the 16 Pro, 17, and 17 Pro, earlier models showed significant battery life reduction. Therefore, we strongly advise you to think twice before installing it on your primary iPhone and recommend waiting for the public beta release in about a month.
