Intel Launches Core Ultra Series 3 Chip

Tech News 4 hours ago 1294 Views

Intel has launched a new era to regain strength in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector by introducing its latest Core Ultra Series 3 chip. This chip is set to be used in many leading laptop models released in 2026 and is specifically optimized for AI tasks, according to Intel. Over the past decade, although companies like Nvidia, Qualcomm, and AMD have taken market share from Intel in the AI and mobile chip sectors, Intel still holds a leading position in the laptop and desktop PC chip market. However, since Apple stopped using Intel chips for its MacBooks in 2020 and switched to its own processors, Intel has faced significant challenges. Under the leadership of Intel's new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, the company has introduced a new turnaround strategy. A key part of this strategy is to expand the use of the Core Ultra Series 3 chip beyond PCs to new fields such as robots, edge devices, and AI-powered devices. Jim Johnson, head of Intel Client Computing Group, states that "there is no limit to the number of devices between PCs and the cloud."

This new chip is designed to improve battery life and deliver enhanced performance for AI-based video conferencing (such as Zoom apps), coding assistants, and on-device AI processing. Intel says that over 200 new PC designs using this chip are expected to enter the market. At the same time, Intel is also focusing heavily on future AI applications like humanoid robots. Oversonic Robotics, a company producing robots for healthcare and industrial sectors, reportedly plans to use the Intel Core Ultra 3 chip instead of Nvidia chips. Intel highlights that because these devices do not need to connect to the cloud, latency is reduced and there is a cost advantage.

Additionally, support from the U.S. government to Intel, along with direct cooperation from Donald Trump on "revitalizing chip manufacturing in the U.S.", has given the company confidence about its future. Overall, it is clear that Intel is striving to re-enter the competition in the AI era with its new Core Ultra Series 3 chip. Strengthening its position in the PC market while advancing into future sectors such as robotics and edge AI has become Intel's long-term goal.
